The honest kind
Privacy policy
The short version: Grove never sees which apps you use, your data stays on your device, and we do not sell anyone to anyone.
Last updated 29 May 2026
The one-paragraph version
Grove is built to work on your device. Your focus profiles, sessions, and threshold records are stored locally. We do not run ad networks, we do not track you across the internet, and we do not keep a back office full of your secrets. If you never contact us, we never learn your name.
Screen Time access
Grove uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks with Individual authorization — the personal kind, not parental controls. This matters for privacy: the system hands Grove only opaque tokens for the apps, sites, and categories you choose. Grove never receives a readable list of which apps you use, and it cannot see your activity outside the profiles you build.
What we collect
On your device (not ours)
Your profiles, blocking sessions, and threshold outcomes live in local storage on your iPhone. If you enable iCloud sync, that data is synced through your own Apple account — we never see it.
When you email us
If you write to hello@grove.app, we keep your message and address so we can reply and follow up. That is all.
Anonymous diagnostics (optional)
If you opt in, the app may send anonymised crash reports and coarse usage counts that help us fix bugs and survive the Screen Time framework's known regressions. No personal content, ever. It is off by default, and you can turn it off at any time.
What we never do
- We do not sell or rent your data. There is no list, and no buyer.
- We do not show ads or embed third-party ad trackers.
- We do not build a profile of you to target anything.
- We do not require an account to use the app.
Third parties
This website serves fonts from Google Fonts, which may log standard request data (such as your IP) when your browser fetches them. If you would rather we self-host fonts to avoid that, tell us and we will. The app uses Apple's frameworks and your iCloud account; no other processors are involved unless we say so here.
Your rights
Because your data lives with you, you can delete all of it by deleting the app. For anything you have emailed us, write to hello@grove.app and ask us to delete it — we will confirm when it is done.
Children
Grove is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for anything meaningful, tell you in the app. No quiet rewrites in the dead of night.
